Aurturo Roberto Gamboa is a left-winger and BLM supporter who took a semi-automatic rifle to a "No Kings" protest in Salt Lake City in June 2025. He reportedly took his rifle to earlier protests too. The organizers of the protest had secured "peacekeepers" to protect the protesters. One of the peacekeepers brought a handgun in violation of the group's rules. When he saw Gamboa walking around with a rifle, he opened fire, hitting Gamboa and a bystander. The bystander was killed. There are conflicting accounts about whether Gamboa was pointing his rifle at people. Gamboa was initially arrested on suspicion of murder despite the fact he wasn't the person who shot. He was later released from jail after the DA couldn't reach a decision to file charges. The peacekeeper's name hasn't been released by police and he hasn't been charged. I guess it's ok if leftists take guns to protests but it's bad if a teenager uses a rifle to defend himself against a child rapist.
