Matt “Spek” Watson, aka “Bitter Barista”, is allegedly a member of Emerald City Antifa who posted on the group's FB page. He posted images from the CHAZ zone and took his infant to at least one protest. He participated in the massive July 25th riot near Cal Anderson Park and encouraged people to drop by say hello. Watson appears to have participated in some sort of anti-Trump protest in late 2020 and was offended when a passerby in a truck used the “N” word. In 2021, someone posted flyers in his neighborhood accusing him of child molestation and he encouraged his social media followers to remove them. However, there does not appear to be any evidence to substantiate the claims of molestation. He was involved in a campaign to smear Orthodox Jewish City Council candidate Ari Hoffman in 2019. Ironically, people on the alt-Right message board 8Chan participated in harassment of Hoffman. Hoffman later quit the race due to threats against his wife. The FBI investigated the hate campaign, but Watson wasn't punished. Watson was a barista who ran an anonymous blog where he posted snarky comments he made to customers. He posted comments such as, “What a coincidence! You have a gluten allergy, and I don’t care that you have a gluten allergy!” and "Thank you, have a nice day is retail-speak for, ‘I hate you, I hope you die in a fire.’” He was doxxed to his employer and was fired. Dae Shik Kim Hawkins, Jr., aka Dae Shik Kim, is a Seattle radical who was interviewed at CHAZ by the left-wing British tabloid the Guardian and said, “I think what we’re seeing in CHAZ is just a snippet of a reality that the people can have." He was described by the Guardian as one of the zone's organizers. In another interview in which he was called a "Rampant Radical" Kim said he tries to check his privilege as a cisgender male without a disability. He admitted in a third interview to participating in the illegal Standing Rock protests in 2016. Hawkins appears to have been a major participant in the 2019 "Sign War" in which supporters of two rivals for a Seattle City Council seat stole each other’s illegally placed signs. Hawkins's last known employment was as a Senior Producer for the left-wing VICE media outlet. He was presumably fired after VICE shut down operations in early 2024. Strangely, he used to write a relationship advice column with notable Seattle radical Nikkita Oliver for Seattle Weekly.
